Canva Template Video Editing – The Basic

Here we will show you how to easily add and remove videos in Canva Template plus some basic navigation.


Things you need to know on Canva upload formats and requirements as of Jun 2022
  • Canva free users can upload up to 5GB of media.
  • Supported video format MOV, GIF, MP4, MPEG, MKV and WEBM
  • Less than 1GB in size: Canva Free users will be asked to compress the file if it’s between 250MB to 1GB

1. Canva Frames

Frames are container where you can drag and drop pictures or videos easily in a Canva template. All our design template use frame so that our customer can easily add their pictures or videos, and quickly use it after just a few editing on their part.

Below how does Canva Frame look like.

2. Adding Video into Canva frames

  1. After opening your Canva template (You’ll receive a PDF with a link that will direct you to the template)
  2. Click on the Uploads button on the left column
  3. Click on Upload media
  4. Browse the video you would like to upload
  5. Wait for the video uploading complete
  6. Drag the video into the Frame. Done. Easy Peasy right.

3. How to Reposition and Resize your video in the frame

  1. Double-click the video and if you using Mobile, Double-tap the video
  2. To resize, click and drag any of the white circle on the corners of the video
  3. To reposition, drag the video around the frame space
  4. Click ✓ Done to finish

4. I made mistake ! How to undo ?

Don’t worry, you just need to click on the undo button at the top bar or press Ctrl + Z on the keyboard

5. How to remove video from the frame

  1. Click on the video
  2. Click on the icon
  3. Click Delete video

6. There are two way of viewing your Canva video template

  1. The Timeline format. In this format you can see the video timeline at the bottom and you need to navigate the page by using those timeline.
  2. The Page format. In this format you can navigate the video page by page by using the scroll bar.
  3. To change the viewing you can click Show Pages icon at the bottom screen.

7. How to Increase and Decrease the video duration

  1. The max video duration you can increase is base on the max duration of the video in the page. For example, if the video on page 2 max duration is 6.4 seconds, then the max video duration you can increase is 6.4 seconds for page 2.
  2. You can increase or decrease the video duration by dragging the page scene at the bottom or click on the video and change the duration at the top bar.

8. How to download the template

  1. Click on Share at the top right.
  2. Click on Download.
  3. Click on Download again on the next page.
  4. The default format is MP4 , which is a video format.
  5. If you prefer other format, click on the File type
